Detailed Eligibility Criteria
A) Age & Educational Qualification:
- Age Requirement:
- Minimum Age: 21 years as of 1st January 2024.
- Maximum Age: 38 years as of 1st January 2024.
- The date of birth must be as recorded in the HSC certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or an equivalent certificate from any recognized Board/Council/Indian University.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum educational qualification as of 1st January 2024.
- Relaxation of Upper Age Limit:
- SC/ST/SEBC/Women Candidates: 5 years relaxation.
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years relaxation.
- Ex-Servicemen: The upper age limit is relaxable by the total period of service rendered in defense services. However, those with more than six months to retire or be discharged from service as of the last date of submission of the online application are not eligible. Ex-Servicemen who have already secured regular employment under the State Government will get the benefit of age relaxation but will not be eligible for reservation in the State Government.
- Multiple Categories: Candidates belonging to more than one category can only avail of one relaxation, whichever is most beneficial.
- PwD with SC/ST/SEBC: Cumulative age relaxation of 10 years over the normal relaxation available to SC/ST/SEBC candidates.
- Language Proficiency in Odia:
- Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Odia and must have:
- Passed the Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject; or
- Passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Odia as the medium of examination in non-language subjects; or
- Passed in Odia as a language subject in the final examination of Class VII or above from a school recognized by the Government of Odisha or the Central Government; or
- Passed a test in Odia in M.E. School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department.
- Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Odia and must have:
B) Other Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
- Character: Must be of good character.
- Marital Status: If married, must not have more than one spouse living, unless exempted by the Government under permissible personal law.
- Sports Reservation: Candidates claiming reservation as Sportspersons must possess a Sports Identity Card issued by the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, as on the date of submission of the application and must upload a scanned copy of the original (not photocopy) Sports ID card online.
- PwD Reservation: Candidates claiming reservation under the PwD category must possess a Permanent Disability Certificate with at least 40% disability. They must belong to the appropriate category and sub-category of disability. Candidates must upload a scanned copy of the original Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card issued by the competent authority. Temporary disability is not accepted, and such applications will be rejected. To use a scribe during the examination, candidates must obtain written permission from the ADM-cum-District Superintendent concerned at least three days before the exam date.
- Ex-Servicemen Reservation: Ex-Servicemen must possess a Discharge Certificate or documents in support of service rendered in defense services. They must also provide an undertaking that they have not availed of any re-employment under the Government of Odisha or India till the date of application.
- Debarment: Candidates debarred from recruitment examinations for a certain period by the Commission are not eligible to appear during that period.
- Fulfillment of Conditions: All eligibility conditions must be fulfilled as of the date of the advertisement.

Follow these steps to apply for the OSSSC Teacher Recruitment 2024:
1. Registration/Re-registration Process:

- Step 2: Viewing Instructions
- On the homepage, click on “How do I register/re-register/apply” to view detailed instructions.
- Instructions will appear on the screen by clicking “Registered User” or “New User” based on your status.

- Training Certificates:

6. OSSSC Teacher Recruitment 2024 : Plan of Examinations
The recruitment process for the OSSSC Teacher positions involves multiple stages as outlined below:
A) Written Test (MCQ Type in OMR/CBRT Mode)
- Paper-I:
- Compulsory for All Posts:
- The level of questions will be up to the +2 standard.
- This paper is mandatory for all candidates, regardless of the post they are applying for.
- Compulsory for All Posts:
- Paper-II:
- Subject-Specific Questions:
- This paper will consist of questions relevant to the specific posts.
- Standard of Questions:
- For TGT Arts, TGT Science (PCM), TGT Science (CBZ), Hindi Teacher, and Sanskrit Teacher positions, the questions will be up to the graduation level.
- For PET, Sevak/Sevika, and Tribal Language Teacher positions, the questions will be up to the +2 standard.

B) Tribal Language Skill Test
- Screening for Skill Test:
- Candidates applying for the Tribal Language Teacher (TLT) position will be screened based on merit from the Written Test. The top candidates, at a ratio of 2 times the number of vacancies, will be invited for the Tribal Language Skill Test.
- Purpose: To assess the oral tribal language efficiency in pedagogic transactions.
- Nature: Qualifying in nature, with a passing mark of 40% (20 out of 50).
C) Negative Marking
- Penalties for Incorrect Answers:
- For each incorrect answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
- If more than one answer is provided for a question, it will be considered incorrect, and the same penalty will apply.
- No penalty will be applied if a question is left unanswered.
D) Minimum Qualifying Marks
- SEBC, ST, SC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, and Sportsperson Candidates:
- Minimum qualifying marks: 30% in each paper.
- Other Candidates:
- Minimum qualifying marks: 35% in each paper.
E) Provisional Master Merit List
- Preparation:
- The Provisional Master Merit List will be prepared based on the sum total of marks secured in both Paper-I and Paper-II.
- The list will be published on the OSSSC web portal.
- Note: Candidates who fail to appear in the Written Test will not be considered further in the recruitment process.
F) Document Verification
- Screening and Shortlisting:
- Candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks will be screened at 125% of the number of vacancies, category-wise.
- These candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification.
- Verification Process:
- Original documents will not be verified for admission to the examination but will be verified later by the Collectors concerned before issuing the appointment order.
- Provisional Admission: The candidature remains provisional until validation by the appointing authority.
7. OSSSC Teacher Recruitment 2024 : Place and Date of Examination
1. Written Test:
- Location: The Written Test will be conducted across all districts in Odisha.
- Date: The specific date for the Written Test will be announced later.
- Notification: The date, time, and venue for the Written Test will be communicated to eligible candidates through admission letters, which will be issued online.
2. Tribal Language Skill Test:
- Eligibility: Applicants who qualify for the Written Test for the Tribal Language Teacher position will be required to take a Tribal Language Skill Test.

District-Wise Provisional Select List
- Formation of the Select List:

- Category-Wise: The list will be drawn separately for each district and category, in line with the advertised vacancies for each post.
- Allocation Criteria: Allocations will be based on:
- Merit: Candidates’ performance in the recruitment examinations.
- Preferences: The choices/preferences of posts and districts as indicated by the candidates during the application process.
Results Publication
- Provisional Results:
- The district-wise provisional results and select list will be published on the OSSSC Commission’s website: www.osssc.gov.in.
- Provisional Status: The results will remain provisional until the candidature is accepted by the requisitioning authority or the appointing authority.
Cancellation/Disqualification of Candidature
- Grounds for Disqualification:
- Any misrepresentation, suppression, or furnishing of incorrect information, or manipulation by the candidate in the online application will lead to cancellation or disqualification.
