a) APSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 Educational Qualification
- The minimum educational qualification required is a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent examination.
- Proficiency in Stenography is mandatory.

Age Relaxation
- SC/STP/STH Candidates: Relaxation of 5 years, i.e., up to 43 years.
- OBC/MOBC Candidates: Relaxation of 3 years, i.e., up to 41 years.
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Relaxation of 10 years for all categories (SC/ST/OBC/General).
- Ex-Servicemen:
- Unreserved Category: Maximum age limit is 50 years.
- OBC/MOBC Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation of 3 years over the general age limit, i.e., up to 53 years.
- SC/ST Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation of 5 years over the general age limit, i.e., up to 55 years.
Note
- The age will be determined based on the Class X/Class XII Examination Admit Card/Pass Certificate/Marksheet issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council, reflecting the Date of Birth (DOB).
- No other documents will be accepted for age proof.
- Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility conditions, as any discrepancies found at any stage of the recruitment process (before or after the Stenography Proficiency Test/Objective Type Written Test) will result in the cancellation of their candidature.
4. APSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 : Application Fees

Important Notes
- Applications without the prescribed fee will be rejected, and no appeals will be entertained.
- Candidates claiming fee relaxation (SC/ST/OBC/BPL/PwBD) must provide a valid certificate from a competent authority.
- Fees are non-refundable and cannot be held in reserve for any other exam or selection process.
5. APSC Stenographer Recruitment 2024 : Selection Process
Mode of Selection
1. Scheme of Selection:
- The selection process consists of two parts:
- Stenographer Proficiency Test
- Objective Type Written Test
2. Stenography Proficiency Test:
Candidates whose applications are accepted must appear for a Stenography Proficiency Test at:
- English: 100 words per minute (WPM)
- Language (Assamese, Bengali, or Hindi): 90 WPM

- Note:
- “Language” refers to Hindi, Assamese, or Bengali.
- Candidates must transcribe 460 correct words for English and 414 correct words for the selected language in order to qualify.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40 marks in the Stenography Test.
- Each additional correct word transcribed adds 2 marks.
3. Objective Type Written Test:
- Candidates who qualify in the Stenography Test will be shortlisted for the Written Test.
- The duration of the test will be 2 hours, and the total marks are 100.

4. Final Selection:
- The final merit list will be based on the combined marks from the Stenography Test and the Written Test.
- In case of a tie, marks from the Stenography Proficiency Test will be used to break the tie.
5. Place of Examination:
- The Stenography Proficiency Test and the Objective Type Written Test will be held in Guwahati.
- The list of valid/rejected applications will be published on the Assam Public Service Commission website www.apsc.nic.in.

2. Registration Process
- If not registered yet, visit the website and click on the ‘Register Here’ link.
- Provide a valid and active email address during registration, as all communication will be done via email.
3. Account Creation
- After registration, log in using your credentials.
- Access the ‘Apply Section’ to view live advertisements.
4. Filling the Application Form
- Review the eligibility criteria carefully before proceeding.
- Click ‘Apply’ to fill out the application form.
- Upload the required documents (Date of Birth, Experience, Qualifications, etc.) in PDF/JPEG format (max size: 200 KB).
- Ensure scanned images are clear and legible.
