6. GAIL Recruitment 2024 : Selection Process

The selection process for the GAIL Non-Executive Recruitment 2024 is comprehensive and ensures that the best candidates are chosen. The process consists of the following stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Candidates must first clear a Computer-Based Test designed to evaluate their knowledge and skills in the relevant subjects.
  2. Additional Tests: Depending on the specific position, candidates may need to undertake additional tests. These could include practical exams related to the trade, skill assessments, computer proficiency tests, or translation tests.
  3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a document verification process to confirm that all submitted documents meet the job requirements.
  4. Medical Examination: Finally, candidates must pass a medical examination to ensure they meet the necessary health standards for the role.

7. GAIL Recruitment 2024 : Exam Pattern

  1. Qualifying Tests: The Trade Test, Computer Proficiency Test, Translation Test, and Physical Endurance Test will all be of qualifying nature.
  2. Written Test Syllabus: The syllabus for the written test will be available on the GAIL website.
  3. Language Option: Candidates can choose to take the written test in either Hindi or English.
  4. Written Test Details:
    • The written test will consist of 100 questions, carrying a total of 100 marks.
    • Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark, with no negative marking for incorrect answers.
    • The duration of the test will be 90 minutes.
  5. Minimum Qualifying Marks for Written Test:
    • 40% for UR/EWS candidates.
    • 35% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
    • 30% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
  6. Selection Criteria: Achieving the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee selection. The final selection will depend on the number of vacancies, the candidate’s category, and their performance relative to others.
  7. No Re-evaluation: Re-checking or re-evaluation of the written test will not be permitted under any circumstances.
  8. Skill Test Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test in a ratio of 1:5 (five candidates for each post). Shortlisting will be subject to securing minimum qualifying marks in the written test.
  9. Tie-Breaking: In the event of a tie in the written test scores, all candidates with the same score will be invited to the Skill Test, even if this exceeds the 1:5 ratio.
  10. Skill Test Assessment: The Skill Test will assess technical skill, proficiency, physical ability, computer proficiency, or translation skill, depending on the job.
  11. Final Merit List: The category-wise merit list will be based solely on the marks obtained in the written test by those who qualify in the Skill Test.
  12. Minimum Qualifying Marks for Skill Test:
    • 40% for UR/EWS candidates.
    • 35% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
    • 30% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
  13. Waitlist: Candidates who qualify the Skill Test but do not make the merit list may be placed on a waitlist in case a position becomes available.
  14. Scribe for PwBD Candidates: Candidates with disabilities of 40% or more may opt to use a scribe during the written test. A medical certificate and scribe declaration form must be provided at the test center. An additional 30 minutes will be given as compensatory time.
  15. Reservation for Ex-Servicemen: Ex-Servicemen who qualify will be considered for reserved vacancies, regardless of their merit list position, based on horizontal reservation policy.
  16. Selection Process: The selection process may change depending on administrative requirements or government directives.
  17. Normalization: If the written test is conducted in multiple shifts, scores will be normalized as decided by GAIL.
