Eligibility Criteria

1. Registration with NATS Portal:

  • Candidates must register themselves online with the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.
  • Candidates should have a valid and approved NATS ID. Applications without this will be rejected during document verification.

2. Year of Passing:

  • Candidates who have passed out within the last 5 years (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024) are eligible.
  • This is calculated from the date of passing the qualifying examination to the date of joining the apprenticeship training.

3. Educational Qualification:

  • Category – I Graduate Apprentices:
    Graduates in Engineering from an AICTE-recognized university in the following fields:
    • Civil Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
    • Electrical Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics & Power Engineering, or any combination of the basic streams of Electrical.
    • Electronics Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Science, or a combination of basic streams of these disciplines.
    • Mechanical Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
  • Category – II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:
    Diploma holders from a recognized university or state government institution in the following fields:
    • Civil Engineering: Diploma in Civil Engineering.
    • Electrical Engineering: Diploma in Electrical, Electronics & Power Engineering, or a combination of basic streams.
    • Electronics Engineering: Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, or a combination of these streams.
    • Mechanical Engineering: Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
  • Category – III Graduate Apprentices:
    General stream graduates from a UGC-recognized university in the following disciplines:
    • General Stream Graduates: Degree in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Management Science, Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication, or Bachelor of Business Studies.

Note: Higher qualifications will not be given any additional weightage beyond the minimum qualifications.

4. Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be between 18 to 25 years as of 01.09.2024.
  • DOB Range: Between 01.09.1999 and 01.09.2006.
  • Age relaxation:
    • 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
    • 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates (subject to document submission at document verification).

5. Physical Fitness:

  • Candidates must meet the minimum standards of physical fitness as per the notification.
  • A medical certificate in the prescribed format, certified by a Government Doctor (Assistant Surgeon or higher), is required during document verification.
  • Medical fitness will be confirmed by KRCL’s Medical Authority at the time of training.
  • The cost of the medical examination will be borne by the candidate.

6. Previous Training/Experience:

  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 in any Government, Public Sector, or Private Industrial organization are not eligible to apply.

4. KRCL Recruitment 2024 : Pay Scale

Pay Scale

  • Stipend Payment Method:
    • The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism has been implemented by KRCL for the payment of the stipend directly to apprentices’ bank accounts.
  • Monthly Stipend Amounts:
    • Graduate Apprentices: ₹4,500 per month (Government of India stipend) + ₹4,500 per month (Establishment’s share) = Total: ₹9,000 per month.
    • Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹4,000 per month (Government of India stipend) + ₹4,000 per month (Establishment’s share) = Total: ₹8,000 per month.
  • Lodging and Boarding:
    • Candidates are responsible for making their own lodging and boarding arrangements during the training period.
  • Bank Account Requirements:
    • Candidates must possess a bank account in their own name and a PAN card to receive the stipend.
    • The bank account should be linked with AADHAR and must be retained until the completion of the training to ensure seamless stipend transfers through the DBT system.

Selection Process

The selection process for apprenticeship training at Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) will be conducted as follows:

  1. Merit List Based on Aggregate Marks:
    • The total marks obtained across all semesters/years will be summed to determine the aggregate percentage.
    • A merit list will be prepared accordingly, without rounding off or giving special weightage to any specific semester or year.
  2. Tie-Breaker Criteria:
    • In case of a tie between two candidates:
      • The candidate with the older age will be selected.
      • If the age is the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be chosen.
  3. Document Verification Process:
    • A number of candidates equaling 3 times the total number of seats notified will be called for the first round of document verification.
    • Further rounds will be conducted as required based on the availability of seats.
  4. Land Loser Candidates’ Preference:
    • Candidates who have lost their land for the Konkan Railway Project will be given first preference for apprenticeship training.
    • This applies to the land losers themselves, their spouses, sons, unmarried daughters, paternal grandsons, and paternal unmarried granddaughters.
  5. Regional Preference:
    • Candidates from districts within KRCL’s jurisdiction will be given second preference. This includes:
      • Maharashtra: Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
      • Goa: North Goa and South Goa districts.
      • Karnataka: Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada districts.
