3. RRC Eastern Railway Recruitment 2024 : Eligibility conditions

A. Age:

  • Candidates must be between 15 and 24 years of age as of the application cut-off date.
  • The age will be determined based on the Matriculation certificate or birth certificate from a recognized authority.
  • Age relaxation:
    • 5 years for SC/ST candidates
    • 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates
    • 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
    • Additional 10 years for Ex-servicemen, plus 3 years after the completion of at least 6 months of continuous service.

B. Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed 10th grade or its equivalent under the 10+2 examination system with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Must also possess a National Trade Certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.

C. Medical Fitness:

  • Candidates must meet the minimum standards of physical fitness as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
  • A medical certificate must be obtained from a government-authorized doctor, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital.

Application Fees

  1. Fee Amount:
    • A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100/- is applicable.
    • SC/ST, PwBD, and Women candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
  2. Payment Mode:
    • The payment must be made online via the ‘Payment Gateway’ available during the online application process.
    • Payment methods include Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking.
    • Transaction charges, if any, must be borne by the candidate.
  3. Technical Issues:
    • In case of server issues due to high traffic, candidates should attempt the payment again by logging in fresh.
  4. Registration Number:
    • After successful submission, a registration number will be issued. Candidates are advised to note it for future reference.

5. RRC Eastern Railway Recruitment 2024 : Selection Procedure

Mode of Selection

  1. Merit-Based Selection:
    • Candidates are selected based on a merit list prepared from the information provided in the online application. If discrepancies are found, the candidate’s application will be canceled.
  2. Document Verification (DV):
    • A select list for DV will be based on the average marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50%) and ITI. No centralized merit list will be created, and it will be prepared trade/unit/community-wise.
  3. Merit Calculation:
    • The average percentage of marks in Matriculation and ITI will be taken equally. For example, if a candidate scored 80.58% in Matric and 91.68% in ITI, the final score will be (80.58 + 91.68) / 2 = 86.13.
    • In case of a tie, the older candidate will be preferred. If birth dates are the same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier will be prioritized.
  4. Document Verification Call:
    • Candidates will be called for DV in a ratio of 1.5 times the notified training slots to account for absenteeism and rejections.
  5. Slot Allotment:
    • Candidates will be slotted based on their preferences and merit for 1:1 notified vacancies. Once a candidate is assigned a slot in a unit/trade, they will not be considered for other options.
    • The remaining candidates (0.5 out of 1.5) will be given another opportunity in other units based on their preferences.
  6. Final Selection:
    • Training opportunities will be offered based on merit and availability of training slots in the chosen trade/unit.
  7. Training in One Unit:
    • A candidate will only be selected for training in one unit of Eastern Railway.
  8. Disputes:
    • Any disputes will be resolved by the Railway Administration, whose decision will be final.
