Eligibility Criteria
1. Technical Qualifications:
a.) Education:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Polytechnic.
- OR
- National Trade Certificate in the trade of Fitter, Diesel/Motor Mechanic, or Machinist issued by: National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labor, Government of India (NCTVT) Industrial Training Institute of the respective State Government (ITI).
- OR
- Two years of Trade Apprentice certificate from a Government-approved shipyard in the trade of Fitter, Diesel/Motor Mechanic, or Machinist.
b.) Proficiency Requirements:
- Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
- Welding and Gas Cutting.
- Fabrication and proficiency in fitting.
- Lathe, drill, and other machine operations.
- Ship-related maintenance work.
- Handling and understanding the logistics of machines for use on board.
2. Other Requirements:
- Must possess valid documents, including:
- Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC)
- Passport
- PAN Card
- INDOS Number
- Seafarer Identity Document (SID)
- Completion of all required STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) courses and STSDSD (Shipboard Training, Safety, and Disaster Preparedness) from DGS-approved institutes.
- Must be medically fit for sea service as per current DGS (Director General of Shipping) medical rules.
3. Age Limit:
- Maximum age limit for Tr. ERPOs: 35 years.
- Relaxation in age limit:
- 40 years for SC/ST candidates.
- 38 years for OBC candidates.

Selection Process
1. Gathering:
- On the selection day, all applicants must assemble at the 17th Floor, Multipurpose Hall “Shipping House,” 245 Madame Cama Road, Nariman Point, Mumbai – 400021 between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
2. Document Verification:
- After gathering, all applicants will undergo a verification process for their documents.
3. Interview:
- Following document verification, candidates will be interviewed by a panel of officers.
4. Medical Examination:
- Selected Tr. ERPOs will be required to undergo a medical examination.
5. Training:
- Medically fit candidates will participate in a one-month shore workshop training before being posted on board.
- The course fees for this training will be the responsibility of the candidates, but they will be reimbursed after successful completion of one year of onboard service.
6. Postings:
- After training, candidates will be assigned to various fleet vessels, contingent upon the completion of formalities (such as document verification and port procedures).
7. Bond Requirement:
- Selected candidates must submit a bond of One Lakh (₹1,00,000) to serve SCI (Shipping Corporation of India) for a minimum of three years or four contracts, whichever is later.
