Important Notes:

(a) Women Candidates:
In case of non-availability of eligible/suitable women candidate(s) belonging to the respective category, the unfilled vacancies of that category shall be filled up by eligible/suitable male candidate(s) of the same category.

(b) Reservation Policy:
Exchange of reservation between Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will not be considered.

(c) Vacancy Adjustment:
The number of vacancies to be filled up based on this recruitment is subject to change by the Court without notice, depending upon the exigencies of public service at the discretion of the Hon’ble Chief Justice.

6. Odisha High Court Translator Recruitment 2024 : Selection Process

The Recruitment Examination for the Translator (Group-B) posts will include:

  1. Preliminary Examination/Test
  2. Main Written Examination
  3. Computer Application Test
  4. Viva-Voce Test

A. Preliminary Examination/Test: 150 Marks (2 Hours Duration)

  • Subjects Covered:
    • General English
    • General Knowledge
    • Logical Reasoning
    • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Format:
    • The exam will consist of 150 Objective Type Questions with Multiple Choice Answers.
  • Negative Marking:
    • There will be a penalty of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • Qualifying Marks:
    • Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST) Candidates: Minimum of 33% of marks.
    • Other Categories: Minimum of 40% of marks.
  • Selection to Main Written Examination:
    • Candidates who meet the qualifying marks will be called to appear in the Main Written Examination.
    • The Court reserves the right to set the cut-off marks based on the number of vacancies and the number of candidates qualifying in the Preliminary Examination/Test.

B. Main Written Examination: 300 Marks (5 Hours Duration)

Language Test:

  • Qualifying Nature:
    • SC/ST Candidates: Must secure at least 33% in Language Test (English & Odia).
    • Other Categories: Must secure at least 45% in Language Test (English & Odia).
  • Consequences of Failing to Qualify:
    • If a candidate fails to achieve the required percentage in the Language Test, their other papers (Translation and General Awareness/Reasoning Test) will not be evaluated, and they will be disqualified.
  • Note:
    • Marks obtained in the Language Test will not be included in the Final Merit List.

Evaluation Criteria for Translation and General Awareness/Reasoning Test:

  • Aggregate Marks:
    • SC/ST Candidates: Must secure at least 30% in each paper and 40% in aggregate.
    • Other Categories: Must secure at least 33% in each paper and 45% in aggregate.

Selection for Computer Application Test:

  • Candidates who meet the above criteria will be eligible to appear for the Computer Application Test.

C. Computer Application Test: 100 Marks (1 Hour Duration)

Qualifying Nature:

  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure at least 50% of the total marks in this test.

Components:

  • The test includes both Theory and Skill components.

Evaluation and Selection:

  • Candidates who achieve 50% or more marks in the Computer Application Test will be called for the Viva-Voce Test.
  • Note: Marks obtained in the Computer Application Test will not be included in the Final Merit List.

D. Viva-Voce Test: 40 Marks

  • Evaluation:
    • Integration: Marks from the Viva-Voce Test will be combined with the marks from the Main Written Examination to determine the total marks for each candidate.
    • Minimum Requirement: Candidates must secure at least 40% in the Viva-Voce Test to be included in the Merit List.
  • Merit Determination:
    • Order of Merit: Candidates are ranked based on the total marks from both the Viva-Voce Test and Main Written Examination.
    • Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie in aggregate marks:
      • The candidate with higher marks in the Main Written Examination will be placed higher.
      • If the Main Written Examination marks are also equal, the older candidate will be placed higher.
  • Discretionary Authority:
    • The Chief Justice may lower the qualifying marks if there is a shortage of eligible candidates.
